Anne at The City Sage just mentioned a jadite pitcher earlier today, and I couldn't help but think that jadite just sounds so pretty! So of course I popped over to etsy to see what pretty jadite treasures I could find.  On the front page, a handful of pretties jumped out at me (like etsy was in collusion with my brain!), and I added just a touch more...

So, while I've been adjusting to my short hair, I've felt compelled to wear cute earrings practically every day. Except when I think a necklace will do, but mostly, it's earrings. I know, I feel almost horrified that I feel like I have to extra-girl-ify myself with this short hair... But I'm also telling myself that I'm just trying to do what I can to elongate my features -- you know, since I have no hair, but I have a very.round face.

A-hem. My problem is that my ears -- well, I've literally had allergic reactions to certain types of earrings up until halfway through college. I mean, you don't want to know how badly my ears would reject earrings that didn't meet the criteria. But then one day, I stubbornly tried another pair of regular $3 earrings you get from a pre-teen store -- and my ears were fine.

And then it's just been a roller coaster since then, where things would go hunky-dorey for a few months, and then *bam!* ear-anger strikes!

Well, I think EA is about to hit again, since I've taken a good 6 month break from any earrings, but have taken up with non-hypoallergenic earrings. Boo. Of course, shopping on etsy is a lot of fun (though some of these, I know my ears would reject: gold-filled? sorry, sounds fancy and safe, but it's soo not). But still -- pretty, no?

So many resolutions/goals this year.  But I like to think of them as achievable, not just a fantasy to-do list.

On that list of Achievable Things is to splurge less, and to focus on Necessities.  Like perhaps replacing the paper/disposable blinds that have been our upstairs window coverings for the past nearly-two years.

But, that still means that Window/Virtual Shopping is still available to me :)  And these delights are well-worth my time, even if I can't quite plunk down the $ to back it up.

Etsy featured msbelle -- *amazing*! I love the simplicity of her work (I debated using the word "art" because it's all so beautiful, but somehow "work" conveys both talent + the labor involved... not that "art" doesn't -- um, yes :D )







For instance, the hand-knotting in the pearl bracelet is a technique I learned about a year ago, so it's something that an ordinary person can do -- but the tightness + evenness of her knots, and the selection & arrangement of the particular pearls she used -- just simply beautiful. + Inspires *me* to get back into designing jewelry, hee!
