Dress inspiration!

I stumbled across this post by The Inspired Bride -- even more motivation to alter my original wedding dress!

Just yesterday I had expressed my hesitation to my coworker to alter the dress to tea-length, just in case (1) I ever have children, and (2) one is a girl, and (3) the girl *possibly* wants to wear my wedding dress -- but then J told me that one of *her* friends wore her mom's dress to her rehearsal dinner -- PERFECT! No more hesitation for me to preserve my dress!

But I still like the idea of handsewing the "vintage" lace from the ebay dress onto another dress I bought for just $5 from Ross for this charity event I attended (I seriously have the best luck sometimes!) -- ooh, this! Except a pale pale dove gray with the ivory sash:
But with this dress being $5 and the vintage dress being $26, and supplies I just bought was like $10 -- there's totally budget to still have my original dress altered!

Rock. (And bonus: for a *super* fun dress, check out A Wedding Cabaret's spotlight!)

Craftiness

Okay, my desire to start crafting has really been slowly coming out of hibernation (it's quite nice!) -- I'll post some photos of my fabulous weekend project (which hopefully I'll finish tonight, whoo!), but next on my list: turning this

into a beautiful bolero, like a cross between this

and this(both beautiful handiworks of Rohm at etsy)

and possibly attaching that scalloped hem to my other dress to peek out underneath. Somewhat ala Jenny Yoo's Audrey:

Which will hopefully go with my original wedding dress, except tailored (what a fancy word for "chopped off") to this length:

from this:

Ambitious, I know. Especially because I do not do a lot of sewing. But I've got over a year, so -- *loads* of time. Mostly b/c I love the lace dress, but it looks creepy on me (truly, I have no idea why) when it's worn properly, zipped up with the scalloped v in the back, and the high lace front -- I mean, the peekaboo strapless satin (not shiny, like the photo makes it seem) is cute, and I adore that style in all the photos I see. And eee, it's my first (only) vintage buy, off of ebay (hee!), but really -- I can't get over that 80's is vintage!!

A-hem. Since it was $26, I don't feel awful cutting it up, especially b/c it was the only one I saw like it at the time I purchased it, but now I've seen 3 more. And despite my greatest attempts, i don't think there's *any* way I'm squeezing into it, either.

Anyway, here's to good luck to me, right?

oh jeez

even though we've been married for almost 4 years now, and logically i know this ceremony in the church is entirely separate, yet i know God was at our civil ceremony. and my dad wants to make this a larger to-do, and my pride says that my husband & i should be paying for all of this, but then -- shoot, if it's his friends (cuz i feel a little silly asking all of our friends to come, since most of them, oh, made it to the first ceremony!) then why should we pay for it?

ugh, this family line thing is too difficult sometimes.

but um here are some wedding-fantasies, pretending that i don't seriously-feel-sick-when-i-think-of-a-big-production-b/c-it-feels-kinda-showy-to-have-a-big-production-for-an-already-married-couple-when-we-had-a-beautiful-ceremony-albeit-in-Vegas. A-hem.

i *will* figure out how to wear lace. Somehow.

preferably in the sleeves, like the above.

*all of the above from ebay-seraching 'ivory lace'

My super uber-fantasies/inspiration:
whitedressbytheshore boutique (okay, posted link to yesterday, but now i've got prices!)

Jenny Yoo's "Audrey" ($450 + $117 for the jacket)!

"Ella" by Jenny Yoo, $425

Okay. This thing is more than a year away, and who knows what my tastes could be, I don't know why I'm driving myself nuts over this. But ... more inspirations. And um, one ebay bid ($20! + $6 for shipping!)

Like this one, from oncewed -- since I still super heart my wedding dress, I've been trying to imagine just adding lace somewhere. I'm not a fan of the halter, exactly, but the lace panels are pretty... although my silhouette is different...

And man, I am all over lace. Although not the generous cleavage that would be on display at the church, if I wore the dress below, since I'm not a tiny girl. Also from oncewed's listings:

And -- here's the lace I dig. Um, not the shinyness. Not in any way. But maybe it's not so bad? Right. Maybe I can remove the lace somehow...? We'll see if I win & go from there :D

More Treasures!
